Amazon is everywhere, and no, we’re not exaggerating. The online retailer is practically growing every day and there’s something going on with them every week that you can most likely hear on the news. Amazon has not only reached deep into the roots of being the greatest online retailer that there is but now they have their retail store known as Amazon GO; it’s where you can just go in get what you need and just walk out without having to go to a cash register. Heck, Amazon has even found their way into our homes with employees being able to drop packages inside of our homes when using the Amazon Key program.

With all that said, here at Household Harbor we’re focusing on a smaller case right here with Amazon increasing its reach and that would be with heaters. Yes, Amazon’s AmazonBasics line has reached into the heater area of home appliances. So we’re here to review their AmazonBasics 1500W Ceramic Space Heater that uses an Adjustable Thermostat.

Feeling the Heat:

Heating with most small ones such as this AmazonBasics heater is pretty good and we shouldn’t always base our final verdict based on the size that they have. The reason for that is because you have to account for how much heat is being outputted from the heater and also just how powerful the fan is too.

That said, even though this heater can output two very powerful heat settings, ultimately, it is a space heater and we’ll tell you what we mean by that.

The low setting on this heater has an output power of 750Watts, with 2,559 BTUs. While on the high setting, it has an output power of 1500Wats, which translates into 5,118 BTUs; the high output of power is what you can expect with most other high settings that heaters use. That said, it’s the heater’s fan size and power behind that is more the driving force on what it’s capable of.

Using this heater on its Low setting is going to be putting it in the equivalent range as being a personal heater, rather than a space heater. That’s simply because the heat that’s being outputted may be warm, but at the same time, with the small fan and little coming out, it won’t mean much if you use the Low setting to heat the room.

While the high setting on this, it’s more in the territory of this heater can heat space around you. Having the ability to heat a space and a Room are quite different, as a Space heater is more meant for heat up parts of a room rather than a whole room. That said, if you do want to try to heat a room and if your bedroom is small enough, then we recommend closing the door so that the warm air can stay inside.

This AmazonBasics heater does not use oscillation, but it does have a fan-only option that can be useful for circulating the air in the room. There is an Oscillating version of this here heater though.

Fuel Usage:

Power usage with this heater is going to depend on how you’re using it. As the high 1500Watt setting that this heater uses is going to use up a lot of power, and can potentially increase your electrical bill quite a bit.

Functional Components:

Using this AmazonBasics heater is one of the most basic experiences that you’ll have with a heater.

It uses a 4-foot power cord that has a 2 prong adapter. The power cord is a little too short, as most other heaters on the market use a 6-foot power cord.

Then there’s the actual usage of this heater and it’s controlled by two simple dials. With one dial being used for adjusting the thermostat, although there are no numbers on the thermostat so you have to adjust it based on when the heater automatically turns off at a certain point.

The other dial is used for turning off the heater, turning the fan only option on, and also switching between the high and low heating options too. Once the heater is on, there’s an orange light that comes on in front of it and that can be useful for telling you that the heater is on and it’s running.

The fan that’s inside is very quiet, but that shouldn’t be mistaken for completely silent as this heater still does make noise but it’s very soothing with its small humming.

Size and Weight:

The height of this heater is 9.4 inches, it has a width of 7.5 inches, and it has a depth of 5.9 inches. The weight of this heater is 1 pound. Nothing to worry about when it comes to making space for this heater.

Structure and Material:

The structure of this heater is made of plastic, which is something that you can expect from most heaters on the market, and overall, you won’t find anything exceptional in this heater. Mostly because of the price tag as this is a budget type of heater.

Even though this is a very simple heater, it makes use of auto shut-off in case it overheats, or if it tips over as it has a tip-over mechanism at the bottom that automatically turns it off once it’s depressing.

Your heating experience is going to vary depending on how you want to use this heater, but it can be switched from a personal heating setting with Low heat output. Or you can have a Space or even a Bedroom heating experience with the high setting.

The power cord could have been long as that’s where you have to plug it into in the first place for safety reasons. Other than that, it’s very straightforward to use with its use of just two dials.

The plastic build quality of this heater is to be expected and it makes use of safety protections.
