There are many brands out on the market when it comes to selling home appliance products. As home appliances are very useful for when you need them, that said, with so many of them on the market it can be difficult to tell which one is the best. In his case, we’re talking about brands that sell heaters, and the market that sells heaters is very saturated. Some brands sell a whole bunch of differently shaped heaters, ones that use fans or ones that radiate heat, and overall, lots of them look like they might be quality ones.

In reality, though, it’s a hit or miss experience. However, some brands do sell true quality and Vornado is one of them. This Vornado AVH2 Plus Whole Room Heater and their other heaters are proof of that, so let’s take a closer look at what it has to offer.

Function

Feeling the Heat:

The problem with most heaters with why they don’t live up to standard is because they don’t properly deliver their heat. That’s the reason that most heaters that radiate heat, such as oil ones are some of the worst to get as they don’t spread the heat out; as it stays more in the vicinity of the heater. That’s why this Vornado heater with its usage of the fan is a much better option for outputting heat, as most heaters already have heating down, it’s just a matter of how to deliver the heat efficiently that most get wrong.

Two Heat Settings

There are two main heat settings with this Vornado heater. It has a Low and High setting. The Low setting has an output of 750Watts and that’s 2,559 BTUs. The high setting has an output of 1500Watts and that converts to 5,118 BTUs. It would have made the heater more desirable to purchase and flexible to use if it has a Medium setting at 900Watts or something, as there are two drastic heat settings. At the same time, since this heater has such a good way of spreading heat, the power difference between the heating modes is less severe.

The Low heating mode is most useful if you’re using it within a Bedroom, and the high heat is most useful for use in a living room. The high heat setting is also useful for when you want to heat a bedroom very quickly as the heat is a lot warmer than it would be on the low heat setting. So this heater is indeed capable of heating a living it’s just that it’s going to take a long while to do so since there’s a larger area to heat up.

Air Setting

Another setting this heater has is to just use its fan and that means it doesn’t let heat out at all, just air. You might be questioning what’s the use of using just air. Well, it can be used either as a fan for those hot days, but more than that, using it on fan mode only will just circulate the air in the room without adding more heat.

Along with its heat setting, there’s also a Digital Thermostat stat that can be useful for accurately choosing what temperature you’d like the heater to work up to. Something that we found strange but useful at the same time, is that once the heater reaches the set thermostat setting it will then slow down the fan and decrease the heat. The heater does not automatically turn off.

Fuel Usage:

With two very different power modes, the power usage of this heater can change quite a bit. We recommend using the high setting to heat a room as fas as possible and then using the Low setting to maintain the heat that comes out of the heater.

Design

Functional Components:

All of the functional parts of the heater are in just a single place. Once you’ve plugged in the 6-foot power cord that uses just 2-prongs and presses the power button, you’re ready to use it.

All of the settings can be found at the top of the heater, and the most notable thing that you’ll first see is the screen that shows Thermostat. The reason that it’s so important is that it’s digital and shows the numeric number, while most other heaters on the market just have a dial and keep you guessing on what number the heater is on.

The Thermostat can be set to be set from 60 to 90 degrees. Above the thermostat is a Plus sign to increase the temperature and then below it is the Minus sign that can be used to decrease the temperature. The buttons on this heater don’t make noise when you press them, just a small click sound.

To the right of the thermostat is where you’ll find the Heating mode button at the top right, then below is the timer button. This Vornado AVH2 Plus heater can be kept on with the timer for 1 to 12 minutes.

The last button that we wanted to mention is the fan button and it has a few functions.

On either High or Low heat, you can make the fan continuous which is characterized by the solid infinity label, and the fan will run continuously regardless of the heat output. While on the Auto Heat, which is characterized by the dotted infinity sign, can be used with High heat and it’ll vary heat output and fan speed; while on low heat, it’ll keep the heat and fan speed constant.

Size and Weight:

This is a small heater, or at least for what it’s capable of, the size is definitely on the small side. It has a height of 11.9 inches, a width of 11.8 inches, and a depth of 9.5 inches. The weight of this heater is 4.1 pounds. It’s very easy to move around not only because of its small size and lightweight but also because of the handle on the back of it.

Build

Structure and Material:

This heater is very well made, and it’s what you can expect from most of Vornado’s products. The entirety of it is made of plastic, but all the parts of it are structured well and it feels great to use too.

Safety:

Safety build quality is on the same level too. It has the auto shut-off just in case the heater overheats and it also has a tip-over safety mechanism that automatically turns it off too.

Summary:

Function:

There’s no shortage of heat with this heater, as the fan is quite powerful and the heat is very effective when combined with the fan. We recommend using the Low heat setting most of the time and using the high heat setting for heating a room at a faster rate.

Design:

It’s easy to use with all of the functional parts being in just a single place, and having the Thermostat being digital is very useful.

Build:

It has a great build quality and can shut off if it overheats because of something covering the front or back of the heater. It also has a tip-over auto-shutoff too.
